A fine and unusual pair of French Empire or possibly Russian two branch candelabra in the gout d’Egypt or Egyptian style which was extremely popular, circa turn of the 18th century. Set on square patinated bronze bases each female figure stands upon a finely cast ormolu circle. Each figure stands with her arms folded over her tassled shift. On her head is set a superb cup decorated in acanthus leaves in superb ormolu and above that a matching circlet of ormolu to that on which the figure stands held in place by a berry finial. Two patinated bronze candelabra arms hold a very well decorated ormolu candleholder.
