This buffalo was carved from ruby zoisite with turquoise horns and eyes, a feather bundle attached with sinew, and a spiny oyster carved arrowhead. It is in excellent original condition.
Amos Pino is a self taught carver known for his animal fetish sculptures specializing in the use gem stone materials.
He is from the Ramah Navajo Band, a landlocked group of Navajo living in a non-contiguous part of the Navajo Reservation near El Morro, New Mexico.
