This is a good pair of early 18th century Italian Baroque hall chairs. The chairs are in overall good condition considering their three hundred years of use. The appropriate upholstery most probably dates to the early 20th century. The velvet seats and backs are detailed in a wide woven silk tape, fringe and nail heads. These chairs are highly decorative and would add a sculptural quality to their space.

Condition:GoodReupholstered. Repaired: There are old repairs due to 300 years of use. Both chairs are sturdy. The finials have suffered losses due to wear. One pair of the finials dates to the 19th century. Please study the photos for more detailed information. Wear consistent with age and use. The surface of the walnut is old. There is old, but inactive indications of past worming. I do not know if the waxed surface dates to the early 18th century or it is of a later date. The chairs are newly waxed in the old European tradition.
