Stunning pair of so called Girandoles, made in France around 1810, in the famous Empire period.
The stepped pedestals are beautifully designed with masks and garland décor. On each of them are an antique-style female figure made in bronze (typical is the drapery and the head of hair), these hold an amphora-like vessel from which acantus tendrils grow, each of which merges into two candle spouts and flowerbuds. In a special detail design are the candle spouts in the floral decoration. The base and upper tendrils are fire-gilded.

This particular pair of candlesticks is a rare original of the French Empire period, which are still in impressive original condition, with charming patina. A fantastic eye-catcher in your interior.
