Of flaring cylinder form with pierced covers, each painted in colors on one side with a large panel of ‘Cupid & Cephisa’. Literature: Geoffrey Godden illustrates a tumbler painted with one of the present subjects in Chamberlain-Worcester Porcelain, 1788-1852, p. 176, pl. 220. Both subjects are based on contemporary prints from Montesquieu’s ‘Céphise et l’Amour’ by Thomas Burke, after Angelica Kauffman.
