Pair of antique Sheffield plate covered serving dishes, circa 1810. The Covered Tureens are decorated along the borders of the top and base with scrolled, gadrooned silver-work and the handles also have a scrolled, gadrooned base and acanthus leaves topped with a stylized shell finial. The borders were applied with a U-shaped section of silver wire to conceal the copper which can be felt as a lip on the underside.
