Pair of wood family Staffordshire pottery pearlware figures with a classical theme which feature Prudence, holding a snake in one hand, an aperture for a mirror in the other hand. Fortitude, holding a column support, stood on a square base. Decorated ‘in the round’, decoration to front and reverse. Open bottomed. This piece represents two of the virtues, from ancient philosophy. N.B: Dimensions of each figure are depth: 20cm; width 27cm; height: 51cm.
