Finely figured flame mahogany case with stepped base, raised moulding to the plinth, long break arch top trunk door with brass escutcheon, canted corners inset with brass. Break arch hood with brass banding, reeded brass inset pillars supporting the dial.
Brass and silvered dial with Roman numerals, calendar aperture, subsidiary dial for seconds and signed John Ross, London. Strike / silent to the arch. Original finely pierced ‘blued’ steel hands.
Exceptional quality eight day movement with regulator style pendulum and large brass bob. The movement striking the hours on a centrally mounted bell. C.1800
