A stunning and most impressive Italian early 18th century Louis XIV period Louis XV st. Giltwood and Bréche Violette marble console. This exquisite rectangular freestanding console is raised by elegantly scrolled and impressive cabriole legs supported on hoof feet. Each leg is decorated with large richly carved acanthus leaves connected by a striking X shaped stretcher with an exceptional central reserve. The finely carved central reserve displays a bearded gentleman accented by foliate decorations in place of his facial hair and a palmette design in place of his hair. The pierced front apron showcases a lovely female bust containing scrolling foliate designs within an arbalest shaped plaque with lattice designed Giltwood bands inside. Above is the very attractive Bréche Violette marble top with mottled edges and rounded corners.
