These exceptional antique George I cast sterling silver tapersticks have a plain classical English form.
The plain cylindrical capitals are encircled with convex girdles and bands of tooled decoration.
The upper portion of the waisted shaped column features a panelled shaped knop embellished with fluted designs to each corner.
Each column is further ornamented with a plain circular knop to the lower portion encompassed with further rope twist decoration.
The columns of these vintage silver candlesticks surmount plain circular sunken wells and are supported by square swept bases accented with incurved corners.
The surface of each well is ornamented with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest of a lion.
These antique Georgian silver tapersticks do not have weighted bases, and bear the engraved initials ‘MH’ to the underside.
Condition
These antique Georgian silver tapersticks are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each base are all very clear.
