A well proportioned Italian early 18th century rent table. Tables like these were specifically used by landlords for rent collecting. Often the tables were taken from village to villlage. To accomodate this the tops were designed to be taken of easilly and/or slide for- and backward to allow the opposite party to place their coin in the drawer.
This example has a demovable top fixed with beautifully carved pegs. The whole piece is made from walnut with a two plank top.
